About Bill James

A dedicated mentor to engineering students

Bill James was a life-long resident of Los Angeles and Inglewood, California. After graduation from LA High School, he earned his bachelor's degree from California State University, Los Angeles. He enjoyed a long career as Global Director of Diversity at Applied Materials, Director of Recruiting at Deloitte, Senior Manager in Operations, Finance and Human Resources at Northrup Grumman and Managing Director of Educational Support Services at Avery James. Bill became an adjunct faculty member within the engineering school at California State University, Los Angeles and consulted with engineering schools nationwide. He was a mentor to hundreds of engineering students over the years. Bill was known for his intelligence, quick wit, and engaging personality. He kept a wide circle of friends in both his private and professional life.
